It is with heavy hearts that we are closing the farm at Steed & Company Lavender. We are beginning a new chapter of our lives and moving to Southampton, where we may reopen a new gift shop. It has been a delightful 15 years in Sparta and we would like to thank everyone for your kind and thoughtful words as we wrap things up on the farm!💜 Before we close, we would like to offer our customers two pop-up shop opportunities on the farm in Sparta. Saturday, May 21 10am-5pm and Sunday, May 22 noon-4pm as well as Saturday, June 4 10am-5pm and Sunday, June 5 noon-4pm. We look forward to visiting with you then!

We continue to offer shipping and curb-side pickup on the farm until June 4th. Select this option at checkout and we’ll email you to arrange a pickup time most convenient to you.

Our bloom season is just coming to a close as the lavender is starting to flower. Make sure to stop by our farm this weekend to see the vibrant purple hues before it’s gone until next year!

2021 OPENING UPDATE! We are pleased to announce

2021 OPENING UPDATE!

We are pleased to announce our shop and gardens will reopen this Friday, June 18th. Just in time for bloom season! Our regular hours will be Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday noon - 4pm. Similar to last year, this season we will offer an outdoor shopping experience where shoppers can place and pick-up orders from the garden - not unlike a takeout window. Our gardens will be open to wander through and, we must say, the bloom is coming along beautifully!

Until the risk of Covid 19 decreases, we kindly ask our guests to be mindful of the health and safety of others. Please wear a mask if you have one. Additionally, we ask that visitors practice social distancing of 2m and refrain from touching surfaces or merchandise. We prefer no cash and ask customers to be prepared to pay via debit or credit card. We will continue to offer online sales with convenient curb-side pickup and shipping options throughout the summer. If you feel unwell, please stay home. Stay healthy – we hope to see you soon! 😊

Last year, we experienced significant die back on our plants. To our amazement, the lavender bounced back miraculously this spring - only now, no ones here to enjoy it. With that being said, we are working very hard trying to prepare a safe opening in time for this year’s bloom!!

Given the ever-changing situation of COVID-19, we are unsure how our 2020 Lavender Season will be effected.

As we continue to provide our much-needed soaps and wellness products, a huge thank you goes out to our team of staff who work hard preparing our grounds and products through these extraordinary circumstances. We simply would not be here without them. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish our customers and community well during this trying time. Bloom Update📢: The lavender is bouncing back!! After an aggressive prune, the lavender is staring to green up beautifully🌿 Many flower spikes are already shooting up and plenty more should be showing soon💜 The bloom will be late this year but we’ll keep you all updated as the season progresses!! Still praying for more sunshine🌤🌞

The joy of farming is that there’s always challe

The joy of farming is that there’s always challenges for us to work through. After growing lavender for fifteen years, one would think we would have it all figured out! This time of year, our plants should be full of lush green growth with immature spikes beginning to emerge, but this year, after a wet fall combined with freezing and thawing winter temperatures, many of our plants are showing signs of damage. We are speaking with lavender growers across Ontario and to many of our gardening friends who are experiencing a similar damage. With grit and determination, we are working very hard and carefully to hand-prune our thousands of plants and monitor them closely. Fortunately, almost all of our plants are still alive and are showing plenty of healthy, green growth in the crown (base). Given all that our plants have been through this year, we are unable to predict the bloom period at the moment. Elsewhere around the farm, we are also very busy with replanting efforts, expanding our butterfly garden, and adding new gardens. We are grateful for all the support and encouragement we have received and are thankful for our customers’ understanding. We will continue to provide updates as our season progresses.
